Travel Methods 

By Train: 

You can reserve a seat on a train from Delhi to Haridwar, preferably a night train so you can get a full night’s sleep before a lengthy drive the next day. It is the most convenient way to travel here. This travel method is the most suitable for people of all age groups.

By Bike/Car: 

Sonprayag is the final stop for parking, so regardless of whether you’re self-driving, using a driver, renting a bike or car from Delhi or Dehradun, or driving your vehicle, you can get there quickly.


How to Get to Kedarnath by Trek: Kedarnath Trekking Guide?

After arriving in Sonprayag, you must take a shared taxi, which costs Rs 20 per person, to Gaurikund, from where the trek to Kedarnath starts. The directions for this trek are provided below as your guide to the Kedarnath Trek.


Trek to Kedarnath distance


The 18 km journey to Kedarnath begins in Gaurikund and ends in Kedarnath. The 14 km trek to Kedarnath has increased to a 16 km trek as a result of the 2013 Uttarakhand flood disaster.

Palki/Dandi, Kandi, and Mule/Ponies are available for use during the Kedarnath Trek. From the reservation desk at Gaurikund/Sonprayag, anyone can make a reservation for these services. The cost to travel from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is Rs. 4450, while the cost to travel from Kandi is Rs. 3350, and the cost to travel from Poni is Rs. 4100. The trek route includes small shops/restaurants, drinking water, and accommodations in tents, all with proper amenities. The Kedarnath Helipad offers helicopter service to Phata and other helipads, as well.

ITINERARY OF A 7-DAY, 6-NIGHT TOUR

Day 1: Delhi to Haridwar

The first meeting with the driver will take place in Delhi at the location you specify or at the agreed-upon location for the 220 km (5-7 hours) journey to Haridwar. hotel check-in at Haridwar (2 hrs from Dehradun). Haridwar darshan during the evening Ganga aarti at Har ki Pauri or another location, such as the Mansa Devi Temple, followed by a night stay in Haridwar.


Day 2 : Haridwar to Guptkashi 

After breakfast, the 220 km (8–9 hours) drive to Guptkashi begins. In between these locations, Rudraprayag & Devprayag are located, where we can see the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers, which is where the Ganga River begins. Finally, after some time, we will reach Guptkashi, where we will spend the night.


Day 3: Kedarnath to Guptkashi and back 

After breakfast, depart for Gaurikund (30 km). After that, a 19-kilometer hike from Gaurikund to Kedarnath begins. Visit the Kedarnath temple, hike to Gaurikund, have a break, then travel to Guptkashi to spend the night.


Day 4: Guptkashi to Badrinath 

After breakfast, begin the drive from Guptkashi to Badrinath (160 km). After registering at hotels, go to Badrinath. Before receiving darshan, take a dip in Taptkund, then receive Shri Badrivishal’s darshan and take part in the evening aarti. Badrinath’s nighttime grip.


Day 5: Badrinath to Joshimath to Rudraprayag 


When you arrive in Joshimath after breakfast, you may visit the Narsingh temple before continuing to Rudraprayag, where you can check into a hotel and spend the night.


Day 6: Rudraprayag to Haridwar 


Drive to Haridwar via Rishikesh after breakfast. The “World Capital of Yoga” is Rishikesh. Check into hotels, see Laxman Jhula, and then spend the night. (165 km/5-6 hrs)


Day 7: Delhi to Haridwar 

After breakfast, proceed to Delhi by car. the driver will halt at a chosen location. (220 km/5-7 hrs)


There are additional helicopter services available. 

The closest helipad to Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport and Dehradun Railway Station is Sahastradhara Helipad. From Dehradun to Kedarnath and from Dehradun to Badrinath, one can easily complete the Char Dham yatra by helicopter.
