The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts(TIPA)
Founded in 1959 by the great Tenzin Gyatso, is considered as one of Asia’s best-performing art centers. It has evolved and developed to become a multi-disciplined cultural institution offering training in various art forms, including dance, theater, and music which are taught by well-trained teachers from India and abroad. The campus offers multiple facilities for film-making and handicrafts and exhibits a rich and historical collection of Tibetan folk art.
Bagalamukhi Temple
The temple is dedicated to the ten goddesses of Shaktism, and it is said that any wish and blessings that have been asked after performing homage and yajna are granted by the goddess. It is believed that color Yellow is her favorite color, and hence the temple has been painted yellow all over, people mostly wear yellow clothes while visiting the temple, and yellow flowers are offered to the goddess. One should def visit the baglamukhi temple once in a lifetime in Himachal to feel the Power of Shaktism.
Bhagsu Falls
This is one of the most exciting and thrilling places to visit in McLeodGanj. A mesmerizing waterfall flowing down a slope of the Dhauladhar ranges, it’s named after Bhagsu village that lies nearby. The best time to witness the falls is from July to October when the water level recedes and makes small pools for tourists to swim and dive in.
The Dalai Lama Temple
Since it is considered the most important Buddhist temple in the town, this is where the monks reside and where you can find their ‘Gompa’ (monastery), along with some other religious structures. Some of the more popular deities or should we say God and Goddess worshiped in the temple are Buddha, Avalokiteshwara, Arya Tara, Manjushri, and Chenresig.
Namgyal Temple
It’s a very sacred place for Buddhists where practices such as vajrakilaya, guhyasamaja, Kalachakra, Yamantaka, and chakrasamvara. This monastery is an excellent place for meditation and relaxing your mind and soul, and all the tourists are welcomed here to join their meditation practice in peace.
Triund trek
Triund Trek! The name is enough to attract you guys. It is considered as one of the best things to do in McLeod Ganj. It is a beautiful and fun trip where you can see the deodar forest, Himalayan peaks, and some hidden springs and pass through different towns and villages. Triund hill is the one and only point from where you can see the entire McLeod ganj as it’s nearly 9 km from there. You can enjoy the eye-catching and mesmerizing sunset and sunrise at Triund with your family and friends. On your way to Triund, you’ll spot many beautiful yet fascinating birds too.
Dharamkot
Dharamkot is a small village adjoining McLeod Ganj that has sparkling and amazing ozone scenery. Not far from the Dal lake here the festival fair organised every year adds to the vividness and beauty of Dharamkot. More picturesque views of the dhauladhar range await you, and a spiritual and ancient retreat at one of the several dedicated centers is just a step away.
